Privacy Policy

How Subskim handles account, subscription, and import data.

1. Overview

Subskim helps users track subscriptions, recurring payments, trial dates, budgets, and related account information.

This policy is written for an early-stage product and is not a substitute for lawyer-reviewed legal advice.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account email.
  • Profile name and avatar if provided by Google OAuth or user metadata.
  • Subscription data entered by the user.
  • Screenshots uploaded for import, processed transiently.
  • App settings such as currency and budget.

3. Screenshot Import

  • Screenshots may contain subscription, payment, renewal, or account information.
  • Screenshots are sent to a server-side AI provider only for extraction.
  • Raw screenshots are not intentionally stored by Subskim.
  • Extracted candidates are shown for review before saving.
  • Only user-confirmed subscription fields are saved.

4. How We Use Data

  • Provide subscription tracking.
  • Calculate totals, budgets, and recurring spend views.
  • Show reminders, renewal, trial, and review information.
  • Authenticate users and protect accounts.
  • Improve reliability and security.
  • Understand product usage with privacy-safe analytics events.

5. Third-Party Services

  • Supabase for authentication and database services.
  • OpenAI for screenshot import and extraction.
  • Sentry for error monitoring and reliability diagnostics.
  • PostHog for explicit product analytics events.
  • Vercel for hosting.
  • Frankfurter or another public FX API for exchange-rate conversion.

6. Analytics and Error Monitoring

  • Product analytics events are limited to safe metadata such as counts, sources, statuses, cycles, categories, and settings presence.
  • Subskim does not intentionally send raw screenshots, OCR text, subscription names, subscription prices, file names, notes, or cancellation URLs to product analytics.
  • Error monitoring is configured to avoid default personally identifiable information collection.

7. Data Retention

User data remains in Subskim until it is deleted by the user or the account is removed. Screenshot files are processed transiently and are not intentionally stored by Subskim.

8. Security

Subskim uses reasonable safeguards to protect user information, but no internet service, database, or transmission method is 100% secure.

9. User Choices

Users can edit or delete subscriptions in the app. Users can also request account or data deletion by contacting Subskim.
