How to cancel Descript

In Descript, canceling means downgrading a Drive to the Free plan, and each Drive is billed separately. Make the change before the next renewal date to avoid unexpected charges.

How do I cancel Descript?

  1. 1Log in at web.descript.com or open the desktop app.
  2. 2Open App Settings with Command/Control + , (comma). If you own multiple Drives, pick the right one with the Drive picker in the sidebar.
  3. 3Go to the Plan tab and click Change plan.
  4. 4Choose Downgrade to Free.
  5. 5Select a reason for canceling, click Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts until you see the confirmation message.

What happens after I cancel?

  • You stay on your current plan until the end of the billing cycle, then the Drive switches to the Free plan.
  • Your existing projects stay accessible, but features from your previous plan that are not in the Free plan are no longer available.
  • Any remaining top up balance is kept but cannot be used on the Free plan, and its original 12-month expiration still applies.
