How to cancel Chess.com Premium

A Chess.com membership bought directly from Chess.com can only be canceled on the Chess.com website, not in the mobile apps. Memberships bought through Apple or Google Play are canceled with that store.

How do I cancel Chess.com?

  1. 1Sign in on the Chess.com website.
  2. 2Click the cogwheel icon (Settings) in the bottom-left corner of any page and select All Settings.
  3. 3Choose Membership from the settings menu.
  4. 4Scroll down to the Cancel Premium Membership section and click Cancel Premium Membership.
  5. 5Click Cancel My Membership on the next screens to confirm.

Billed through an app store or partner?

If you bought the membership through the Apple App Store or Google Play, it can't be canceled on the Chess.com website. Cancel it in that store's subscription settings, or in the Chess.com app tap More, Membership, then Manage Membership to be sent there. If you pay through PayPal, canceling on Chess.com alone may not stop renewals, so cancel the subscription with PayPal too.

What happens after I cancel?

  • Your Premium benefits stay active until the end of the current billing period, then your account switches to a free Basic plan.
  • Canceling does not refund the current billing period; Chess.com covers refunds in a separate help article.
