How to cancel your Shopify plan and deactivate your store

Canceling your Shopify subscription also deactivates your store at the end of the current billing cycle. The store owner does this in the Shopify admin; stores on Shopify Plus have to contact Shopify Plus Support instead.

How do I cancel Shopify?

  1. 1From your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Plan.
  2. 2Click Cancel plan, or Cancel trial if your store is still in the free trial.
  3. 3Review any options to downgrade or switch to the Pause and build plan, plus your Shopify domains and pending charges. Then select Cancel my plan and uninstall all apps and click Continue.
  4. 4Select a reason for the deactivation, add a comment if you like, and click Continue.
  5. 5Enter your password and click Cancel plan to confirm, or Cancel trial if your store is in the free trial.

What happens after I cancel?

  • The store is deactivated at the end of the current billing cycle. Until then, you can undo it by clicking Reactivate plan under Settings, then Plan.
  • Shopify does not refund subscription plan fees. When you cancel, all apps are uninstalled and pending charges, such as app usage charges, transaction fees and shipping label charges, are billed.
  • Your store's information is kept for 2 years so you can reopen the store. Custom domains are disconnected, and domain renewals are not canceled, so turn off auto-renewal or transfer the domain first.
